BRFC EXECUTIVE MEETING MINUTES              29th April 2008

 

Present: Kent Tumber, Lucia Tumber, Jamey Vickery, Joe Deslippe, Ruth Blair, Darlene Downey

Regrets: Malcolm Kelly, Keith Wilkinson, Matt Cappuccitti

 

1. Clubhouse Report

1.1    Steam Whistle. Instead of a cash sponsorship, Stefan will be giving the Club new post pads with the Steam Whistle logo. Although Stefan is unable to attend the Hall of Fame event, a presentation of post pads to be made. Steam Whistle Truck will be at Dam Jam

1.2  Coke. Although the new representative from Coke has been great, same problems persist.  Coke will continue to be a temporary contract until we are provided with better service, or find a new company.

1.3    New Bar Hours - Wednesdays 7-11pm, Thursdays 7-11pm, Saturday home games 11am-8pm, and for rentals. Mondays and Tuesdays TBA.

1.4    Maintenance: Kitchen items: Ice machine has been removed. Cost of a new machine is ~$1900 from JPS Restaurant.  Kent to follow up.

1.5  Dishwasher is broken broke.  Waiting on pricing for repair.

1.6  General - Street Lights – BRFC has been advised to take care of these at our own cost.

                   - Simplex Grinnell inspection – some deficiencies found and we are now waiting on quote.

                   - Back Door Quote $1850 - $2400. Security issue and fire code violation.

                   - Relocation of Beer Gas to kitchen area completed.

 NOTE:  As we have several repairs, it is imperative that all members of the BRFC look for sponsorships to help with this, as well as other financial issues.

 

2.     Miscellaneous

2.1 Domino’s Entertainment - BRFC will receive 2 free bookings. Logo on website. Executive agreed that we will not give out our rental contacts as Domino’s logo is on the website already.

2.2 Cleaning - Rick Deslippe has started to fill in for Jim Wilson.  THANK YOU RICK – YOU’VE DONE A GREAT JOB!!! John Milks, new member, has also contacted the club re helping.  Agreed that time sheet to be handed in weekly and will receive payment via petty cash.

 

3. Rentals

3.1 Brampton Lions FC renting space for May and Darts coming back next year

 

4. Correspondence

4.1    National Capital Youth Rugby Festival – Sat 19/20 in Ottawa

4.2    Churchill Cup,  Amanda Corsetti will organizing Hospitality tent for this June 14th.

4.3    Safe Rugby

4.4    Canada East vs Canada West Game – Saturday May 17th at Fletchers

 

5. Director’s Reports

5.1    President

5.1.1   BRFC is 100% compliance with ORU

5.1.2   Addison Cup (May 3rd) This is dependent on weather – will let them know on Friday whether or not fields are playable. If too wet, either cancel or play on all-weather pitch.

5.1.3   New Brampton Coaches:

                   Kevin Jones is the BRFC Tactical Coach, available to all teams

                   Jim Flynn is the BRFC Director of Rugby, available Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays

5.1.4  Physiotherapists - Ruth is having difficulty finding physiotherapists for all teams. To look into schools, or students looking for hours.

5.1.5  Insurance - Kent to look into whether player trials being held at the club are covered. High school players are covered by the school board as long as they are registered with the school

5.1.6  Player (Graham Davies) Kent to email Graham relaying he must contact Fran Mason in order to play

 

5.2    XL Club Rugby

5.2.1  Players must be registered with ORU. The XLs are to give $450 to BRFC for dues to the club.  Before XLs game, Joe is to send the list of registered players to Kent. Joe is also to contact Fran Mason to ensure that players are registered,

5.2.2 Joe to contact Ruth and Lucia re May 11th game

 

6. New Business

 

6.1 Hall of Fame

6.1.1 Food. Lucia has people staffed to cook food until 6 pm. At this point, 2 volunteers to start.

 

7. Dam Jam

7.1.  At present, Matt has everything booked and organized.

7.2 Dar to create spreadsheet re subcommittee and sign up list for security (2-3), clean up, set up (Friday and Saturday)

7.3 Lucia to staff for bar, Dam Jam ticket sales, and alcohol sales

 

8. Tour Meal

8.1. Malcolm (and Jamey) to find Senior Men to cook, serve and clean up. Option is to book BBQ Gourmet to cater due to large numbers (200).

 

9. Payment of Coaches

9.1 Kent to contact BRFC coaches re paying $125 for insurance.
