MEN'S TEAMS NOTES FROM COACH ALLEN
29th May 2007
This past weekend, Brampton
Men's program lost 3 straight games to the new kids on the
block: Stoney Creek. They were a pleasant surprise as a team
well-coached and they can execute strongly in the style they
have adopted. Stoney Creek should do well in the Marshall
Division this season.
I think that Brampton Men's
program has received an eye opener in how much work we have to
do over the next few months. I think everyone now realizes
that having a poor Spring training program results in poor
execution on opening day for all 3 teams. The teams that
played were a mixed group of veteran and new Rugby players.
So, well done to the players who played their first games with
Brampton and thanks to the old boys for coming out and helping
the young guys out.
The Men's first side is a
team that will gain a great deal of credibility this year,
once we get a few small details cleaned up. Again, this team
was a mixture of the veteran and new. A real sense of pride is
starting to show in the wearing of the Beavers jersey, and
this team will be an electrifying force in a few weeks.
Jeff McDiarmid played his
first game with the Beavers and he looked outstanding. There
was some very strong running from Cam Mitchell, and Andrew
Petriccia held his own in all the scrum situations. Andrew was
awarded Man of the Match for his hard work and positive
outlook in the game.
Please see the photograph to
realize our new Brampton first team tradition for players.
There is a mandatory starting 1st XV post/pre game
uniform. It is an honor to start for the Brampton first team
and this players will be recognized for this.
Anytime this season that a
player is selected to play for the 1st XV, they will be given
this shirt. The new players
for the 1st XV will be presented with their shirt
during Thursday night training.
The shirt is not to be worn other than on game day, pre and
post match, and it is also not be to worn if you are not on
the starting XV. This is a new tradition that we are starting
at BRFC. Please respect and honor it.
Also, this year we are going to be honoring a man of the match
after every game. This award will honour the selected layer by
allowing him to wear a BRFC suit jacket that has be donated by
one of our long standing club members Robin Boydell. Again,
this is a new tradition we are starting at the Club, and again
I ask you to respect and honor it.
We will be having a hard and
physical training week, and i look forward to seeing all
players on Tuesday night
