CANADIAN WOMEN DAY ONE RESULTS FROM
HONG KONG 29th March 2007
Canada’s National Women’s Sevens team,
captained by Brampton RFC's Brooke Hilditch went 1 - 2 on the
first day of the Hong Kong event. The Women's tournament
precedes the main IRB Hong Kong Sevens event this weekend.
In their first game against Tournament
favorites, Canada lost to the New Zealand Black Ferns 0
- 21. The second game went better, with the Canadians
defeating the host Hong Kong squad by 38-0.
This win set up a quarter-final match
in the Cup competition against China, which Canada
disappointingly lost 10 -15. This mans that on Friday, Canada
will face Singapore in a bowl semi-final game. With a win
Canada will go on to face the winner between Thailand and
Kazakhstan.
