RYAN SMITH IN SQUAD: BIG MENTAL TEST
FOR PACK IN FACING DAX

Ryan Smith is selected to the squad which will
play the T 14 match against Dax. If there is going to be one day when
the Montauban pack needs to be well-motivated it is certainly tomorrow,
at home at 5:30pm at home on the Sapiac pitch.
Since Stade Francais defeated them 22 - 19 after
being destroyed in the scrums, people talked only about Dax's props
becoming internationals. Many see Julien Brugnaut (right prop, 26 years
old, 1m83, 120 kgs) and Renaud Boyoud (left prop, 27 years old, 1m88,
110kgs) pressing their claims for international honours.
Finally, only Julien Brugnaut was selected for
the opening Six Nations match against Scotland. He says, "I really
haven't yet come to terms with the selection. I am only thinking of my
game against Montauban foir which we have been training very seriously."
This man, who has done so well at Dax, knows that he will now be tested
against every Club he plays in France. He says, "Since the game we
played against Stade Francais, this has already been the case. It
doesn't worry me." When asked his biggest wish, he explains, "it is to
defeat Montauban." Montauban - be warned.
If the the new French coach Marc Lièvremont knows
a good deal about the Dax player, we know too, that the name of
Montauban player Benjamin Sa is being proposed for National team duty,
as well as three quarters Yannick Caballero and Ibrahim Diarra. All this
to say that we are in for a good hard game that will show if Montauban
at home have the heart and ability to show that they can equal the best
in France up front. If they can, then Benjamin Sa, Pablo Henn, Pascal
Peyron, Pablo Lemoine, Patrick Blanco, Laurent Delboulbès (or Bogdan
Balan who is injured) have the means to take up the Dax challenge. We
will see tomorrow in the T 14 championship at 5:30pm on the Sapiac
pitch.
Montauban has announced a
squad of 24 players for the match. The starting XV will be
announced after training tonight. Henn, Lemoine, Peyron, Sa,
Traversa, Testa, Rolland, Murray, Frost, Caballero, Clarkin,
Diarra, Raynaud, Garcia, Mitu, Fauqué, Fortassin, Cassin, Audrin,
Dalla-Riva, Ryan Smith, Jonnet,
Avramovic et Cech.
