At home in Sapiac,
Montauban lost to Stade Toulousain by 12 - 16. The half time
score was 6 - 8. Montauban scored three penalty goals at 15, 36
and 65 minutes, and a drop goal to Stade Toulousain's two tries
and two penalties. Ryan Snith was subbed into the centres for
Avromovic at 67 minutes.
Thanks to a try scored in
one of the first movements of the match by international full
back Clement Poitrenaud, on a pass from Fiji international
Kunavore, Stade Toulousain showed through the whole match they
know how to score and win.
It was a real iron man's
game where each team had periods of domination. But the rewards
for these periods went to the visitors who did a little more.
However, Montauban finished the match camped on the Stade
Toulousain try line. "They had better success than we did, said
MTG coach Laurent Travers. Meanwhile, the Stade
manager Guy Novès savoured his victory, all the while
acknowledging that "Montauban could have won the game at the
end."
