RYAN SMITH SUBS IN AT FULL BACK IN MONTAUBAN LOSS TO DAX  3rd May 2008

The temperature was 30 degrees at kickoff time for this match. Dax was quick to lay claim to their points, but every time Antoine Vignau kicked a penalty, Montauban's Fortassin replied with one of his own. The score was 6 - 6 after the first half hour. 

Montauban used a new lineout effectively to win a good supply of ball, but the defensive systems of both teams dominated any attacking chances, until 5 minutes from the half. Then, Dax's Laurent Diaz scored though the middle, followed by an interception and try by Hiriart. Half time score was 20 - 6.

 Unfortunately, a try in the second half by Avramovic, Montauban's centre, was refused because the video judge was on strike. The difference in score was just too much for Montauban to catch up. This happened despite their domination of the game in the second half.

Brampton's Ryan Smith came on to substitute for Fortassin at full back in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Avramovich did score a further try followed by a touch and a flare up in the forwards. Several times Montauban had the chance to score another try to take the match, but in the end they had to be content with a defensive bonus point.
