with red pepper mayonnaise sauce, vegetables, three bean and
green salad and dessert.

demonstrates that although she may be the smallest
player on the field, she makes the biggest impact. Finally, Jill made an

Club Director of Rugby Andrew Kirkpatrick asked for some time
to recognize the many volunteers who make
the Club possible, from Lucia Tumber who runs the Club house,
to the Benyons and Graham Parker who set up the dinner, to
those who cut the grass, line the fields, clean the clubhouse,
run the website, publish the newsletters, direct the Club,
coach the teams, and manage the fixtures and referees. Without
all these volunteers the Club could not operate. However, we
need more volunteers and more people to help develop the Club
and its teams.

This theme was continued by long-time member Hedley Benyon,
who gave an impassioned speech, stressing the need for more
Club members to become involved if we are to continue our
growth and development. We have all the elements to emerge as
one of the premier Clubs in the country, but we need more
involvement. The reduced numbers at the dinner from 2005 are
perhaps indicative of a declining involvement by Club members.
The Social member of the year award was made appropriately to
the Deslippe family - Joe, Heather, Rick and Alana who have
been a paradigm of volunteer effort and contribution at the
Club for many years.
