BRAMPTON's JANE KIRBY IN GUELPH ROUT OF QUEENS    2nd October 2007

Brampton's Jane Kirby was part of the University of Guelph Gryphons  big win last Saturday in OUA action. The defending OUA champion University of Guelph Gryphons (2-2) gave the Queen's University Golden Gaels (3-1) their first loss of the season by a score of 50-0. On Saturday afternoon in Kingston, the Gryphons put on a dazzling display of rugby in a dominating performance over the home side.

Jacey Murphy (Alliston, ON) led the Gryphons as she scored three tries against the Gaels. Michelle Joslin (Waterloo, ON) scored two tries in the game while Larrissa Chomyk (Barrie, ON), Jane Kirby (Brampton, ON) and Jen Cerullo (Toronto, ON) each added one try a piece. Gryphon Lianne Inglis (Burlington, ON) kicked five conversions in the match.

At halftime the Guelph lead was 19-0 after scoring two tries just minutes apart. In the second period, the Gryphons upped the score by another 31 points. A relentless defence allowed Guelph to dictate play and pressure the Gaels for 17 more points before the game’s end.
