BRAMPTON WOMEN DEFEAT LEAGUE CHAMPIONS LINDSAY by
Brian Kelly 25th May 2008
This past Saturday 24th
May 2008, another s
tep
in the right direction as Brampton Women's team took on a
formidable foe, in the defending champions from Lindsay. We
won the game, and came out with more intensity from the
get-go, scoring from the kick off.
Although it’s early in the
season, the continuity of play which we have shown so far is
excellent. Great forward play by Sonia and Jenna Livingston
was complemented by outstanding runs by Vanessa and Sarah
Jess. Sarah Jess used her patented "falling airplane" running
style to carve through a
depleted Lindsay team. and we came away with at commanding
40-7 victory.
With so many great plays,
tackles, runs and scores, it was very much a team effort. Our
Brampton Beavers are really embracing the "fifteen as one"
mentality and are making it very difficult for teams to key on
one or two individual players. This season, everyone is a
force to be reckoned with.
As always, we have a few things
to work on, which is why we practice. It is clear that the
hard work the women's squad had been putting in week in, and
week out, is starting to pay off. This upcoming week we are at
home versus Peterborough at noon. I would like to welcome
everyone to come watch us as we look to take our record to 3
and 0 this season. Peterborough will no doubt provide stiff
competition as they are new arrivals in our league having
dropped down from the OWL.
A win this weekend will reaffirm
what I already know as the coach, that we are going in the
right direction this season in our quest to win a
championship. With such a rich heritage of success in the
past, we are well on our way to bringing back the former
glory. GO THE BEAVERS!!!
