BRAMPTON WOMEN PUNISH PETERBOROUGH 2nd
June
2008
It was another great day of Rugby at the
Brampton Rugby Club on Saturday. The Brampton Women’s team did
not disappoint the fans and started off the day's schedule
with a 48 - 7 victory over Peterborough.

Some punishing tackles by Paige and some
more great runs by Bru, set a tone for the afternoon that was
embraced by the rest of the team. Once again, the Brampton
women played what has now become their 15 as 1 style of Rugby.
Although it is still early in the season, coach Kelly is very
impressed by the athleticism, attitude and all around smart
Rugby that the Brampton women are showing week in and week
out.
However, it is
a long season and we have another tough game this weekend
versus Oshawa (the only other undefeated team in our league).
This being said, anybody who would like to make the trip down
the 401 to support the team, would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to thank the Waterloo
County Rugby Club for accepting our invitation and driving all
the way here to play a second team game. For those who are not
aware, we have run into a good problem this year. We have the
numbers to support two full teams, but unfortunately we only
have one team in the league. This problem will be solved next
year, when we will have two teams participating in the league.
Thank you to Joe, the Women’s Director, for organizing the
game with Waterloo.
This was a great opportunity for Joe and
Brian Kelly to get a good look at some of the Club's rising
stars who are pushing for first team positions. I would like
to thank Amanda Corsetti who was the captain of this team, and
although she is humble about her abilities, she did a terrific
job. Great play at scrumhalf from Tina, and forward play from
both Kristina and Meaghan. In the backs, Stacey did a
fantastic job at disrupting their plays. Thank you to all the
first team players who played in this game as well as the
first team game. A special thank you to Bru, who lasted 2 FULL
games!!
Once again, I invite you and encourage
you to get out here and support the Brampton Women. As you can
see by our lopsided scores and the ability to field two teams,
we are well on our way to bringing back past glory, as we step
forward in to the new era at Brampton.
