BRAMPTON WOMEN FALL TO OSHAWA VIKINGS By

This past Saturday, 7th June
2008, the Brampton Women’s team suffered a disappointing 5 - 7
loss at the hands of Oshawa Vikings.
The most disappointing part was
that I feel we were both mentally and physically prepared to
go out and do great things on the field and against this team,
but unfortunately, we came up short. There are plenty of
things we need to take away from this defeat, – both
good and bad – and that is why we practice.

I’m very pleased with all
the women who stepped on the field, 15 as 1, and like our
first three games where we were victors, we walked off the
field with our heads held high. We fell just short against the
Vikings, losing by a conversion 7-5. I foresee a very
different outcome the next time we see this team, and I expect
to do my part by making sure we are 100% ready next time. No
excuses!

I feel this loss can be a very
humbling experience for us and a good motivation towards our
ultimate goal. For as many mistakes as we made, to lose by
only two points, is still an achievement in my eyes. I have
stressed to the squad since day one that a good team, such as
Oshawa, will capitalize on our mistakes and that is exactly
what they did.

We have to make sure we minimize,
or eliminate, such mistakes. Everybody does the big things,
but we need to be great at the little things, in order to be
successful this season. It is now time to forget about Oshawa
and time to start thinking about the Lions who are up next.
They will be a very formidable opponent whom we failed to
solve last season, losing to them in all three meetings. I
expect this to be different this Monday, June 16, and I hope
that if you are free, you will come out to support your
Beavers at the Dam at 7:00 pm as we look to start another
winning streak.
