BRAMPTON UNDER 16 MEN WIN SEMI FINALS
19th August 2006
The Brampton Under 16 men continued their winning
ways with a 41 - 7 victory over Aurora Barbarians yesterday. The semi
final victory puts them into the Finals next weekend, where they will
play against Markham 2.
The Under 16 team remains undefeated in the
League this season, with their only points surrendered being a tied game
against Alliston away. In exhibition games against touring sides from
the UK they lost two games and won one. A highlight of the match this
weekend was a try scored by prop Andrew Rumbell.

WOMEN AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
18th August 2007
Brampton RFC has Jane Kirby representing Ontario at prop at the
Under 19 Championships in St. Johns Newfoundland this weekend.
Brampton also has Jessica "Jake" Jacobs playing loose head prop
and Miranda Smith playing lock, for the Ontario U17 team.
The Ontario U 17 squad is divided into two teams: The red and
the blue. Jessica and Miranda are in the Red team. They lost a
close first contest to Alberta 14-12, but then played Ontario
Blue and won 12-0. Jake was dubbed Woman of the match in this
game. On Friday, the Red Ontario U17 team played B.C. and it
was a magnificent match. After a closely contested match the
score ended 12 - 12. Saturday, the Red Team defeated Alberta 7 -
3 to reach the finals.
Today, Friday 17th August, Jane Kirby and the Ontario U19 team
played Manitoba. They started very strongly, scoring against
Manitoba within two minutes. The Ontario team played well, and
by the half,
Manitoba was walking, and by half time they were some 20 points
ahead.

BRAMPTON
UNDER 16 MEN WIN LEAGUE TITLE WITH WIN OVER MARKHAM
13th August 2007
Brampton Beavers' Under 16 Men's team wrapped up an undefeated
season as League champions on Monday evening as they defeated a
strong Markham U 16 team by 10 -7. The only points lost by the
Junior Beavers during the whole season were a tied game with
Alliston Timberwolves played away.
Brampton's victory and title did not come easily against a
well-drilled and useful Markham side, and the effects of a 2
week hiatus in playing any games was readily apparent in the
Brampton team. Uncharacteristic handling errors, poor kicks,
poor decisions, a lack of tactical awareness, aided and abetted
by the referee's interpretation of the off-side law in the ruck
and maul, meant that the Junior Beavers were perhaps fortunate
to win.

U16 JUNIOR MEN DEFEAT KETTON SCHOOL TOURISTS FROM UK
29th July 2007
Ketton School is located near Oxford in Southern England, and
they are the third English touring side that Brampton Juniors
Under 16 Men's team has faced this summer. In suffering
defeats at the hands of the two previous touring sides, Brampton
was still able to score outstanding tries against the tourists
and impress the visitors with their play. Against Ketton School,
Brampton showed how much they have learned this season as they
posted a well-deserved 19 - 13 victory on Sunday evening.
Even with a 6:00pm kick off time, the conditions were hot, humid
and hard. However, Brampton used their kick off to put immediate
pressure on Ketton with a downfield tackle. Brampton then
launched a series of pitch wide attacks showing good ball
retention and strong running. Only the delivery of the ball -
sometimes a little behind the runners - prevented a couple of
early scores.

BRAMPTON
U16 JUNIOR MEN SALVAGE SOME PRIDE
22nd July 2007
Harton School from Newcastle in the United Kingdom have been
frequent visitors on tour to Brampton Rugby Club. They are a
well-drilled side with five years of Rugby experience behind
them, and even in Sunday's blistering heat, they were too good
for the Brampton Juniors, running away to a 58 - 10 victory.
However, there was little gloom in the Brampton camp. This week,
the Brampton U 16 team moved into first place in the league,
while the coach of the English touring team congratulated them
for sticking at their game and scoring two excellent tries.
