You have found the front page of the Brampton Beavers Senior entry in the Ontario Women's League (OWL). The league consist of six of the top seven teams in Ontario, the additional team plays independently in the EORU and joins the OWL for the Ontario play downs. Brampton's home fields include 2 full size pitches and a third non-regulation practice pitch surrounding a full service licensed clubhouse complete with free parking and a children's playground. Located just minutes from 410 and Derry, the club is easily accessible via Highway 401, 407 & 403.

The Ontario Women's League is the premier league for rugby in Ontario, where most if not all of the Ontario based national team players come to play. Each of the 6 Owl teams fields two sides every Saturday, with Brampton being the only club that plays its home games away from Fletcher's Fields and adjacent to its own clubhouse. Exclusive access to the best clubhouse in Ontario, gives the home side an opportunity to host the best qualities of the rugby culture following the matches. When paired occasionally with the men's side, the entire day becomes what can best be described as a rugby festival.

Brampton has reaped the benefits of a superb junior program that has played in the league championship game each of the past two years. Brampton currently holds the title and has progressed many of these players into the senior ranks. This is Brampton's third year back in the OWL having won the promotion match the same year as capturing the TRU Championship. Each of the past two years has seen huge strides by this relatively young side that is on the verge of challenging the perennial mainstays in the OWL.

If you are looking to challenge for a starting position on a first 15 OWL side, and become a member of the best rugby club in Ontario, look no further than Brampton.

We will begin training in mid April 2011. Head coach Brian Kelly can be contacted at: briankelly_55@hotmail.com

ATTENTION BRAMPTON RFC WOMEN RUGBY PLAYERS ENTERING UNIVERSITY

This message is for those of you who are keen to play university level rugby after graduating from high school. York University is actively trying to improve its program through the recruitment of talented high school and club rugby players. The York team is young and improving and there will be plenty of opportunity to make the weekly starting 22 selections in your first year at York and help share in the success of the program going forward.

The coaching staff has implemented an new style of rugby that you’ve likely never seen or played before and it makes for a dynamic and exciting season. It’s a brand of high risk / high reward rugby that gives everyone a chance to contribute.

We currently have two Beavers in the York program. Courtney Thomas and Emily Pattenick – both have shown well thus far in the season. I am sure either of them would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you are interested in playing university rugby at York please feel free to contact either Joe Costello (joecost@yorku.ca) or Bob Periard (bperiard@yorku.ca) for more details or visit http://www.sport.yorku.ca/interuniversity_sport/teams/rugby_w/index.asp and take a look.

There is also an opportunity for incoming students to obtain a financial athletic award which will last your 4 years of university, subject to maintaining a quality academic result.

So if playing university rugby interests you and playing on a university team where you have a good chance of getting playing time from year one – I encourage you to choose York as one of your post secondary choices and keep us in mind. I hope to hear from you.

Regards, Joe Costello Coach – York Women’s Rugby
