XL UPDATE FOR JULY 2009( 2nd July 2009

The venue for this weekend's fixture (Sunday July 5th) has been changed to Brampton at 1:00 p.m. The Vintage couldn't secure a field. I hope everyone will be out, as the summer break is fast approaching and it's one of the last chances to have a runaround before the Fall. As always, everyone is welcome, and there will be food (free) and beer (less free) afterwards in the clubhouse. MORE

XLS TO MARKHAM 25th July 2009

This past Sunday, 20th June 2009, saw the XL's in Burlington to give the NOBs another lesson in champagne Rugby. As always, they hosted us well and it was a good game highlighted by "lightning" Ted's several counterattacking tries. When our strategy of wearing him out in the heat by letting him run long distances, multiple times, finally paid off, we were able to run in several unanswered tries of our own at the finish. MORE

INVITATION TO XL CLUB FROM ARGENTINA TOURNAMENT 18th July 2008

Colin of the Grey Hares and Chris Rideout both write to say how about an XL touring team for this event?

Colin says they have this tournament every year, and he was there in 2006 and it was fantastic. Argentina is fantastic. It's worth looking into for 2010.

XL UPDATE AND NEWS OF SARANAC LAKE JUNE 2009 10th June 2008

First up is a reminder of last week's posting: On Sunday 14th June, the Lions are hosting a game at Sunnybrook Park, with a 1:00 pm. kickoff. The week after it is the XLs vs. the NOBS in Burlington and on the 28th. June, we will all be traveling up to Markham for a game.

As always all players are welcome, in fact they are encouraged to come out and join in. Last weekend the NOBS hosted the first of their two 10-a-side events, but unfortunately, there were only enough players out to have a game. Regardless, a good time was had by all, but we were hoping for a bigger turn out. See you all up at Sunnybrook. Second is a notice from the Ottawa Senators MORE

XL UPDATE 13th May 2009

O.K. so it's the long weekend. If you own a cottage you're probably not playing this summer anyway. For the rest of you, there is only so much yard work you can do in 3 days. So, make it 2 days of yard work and skip the tasks on Sunday. The XL's are hosting an otherwise All Comers fixture. I believe we did this last year and we had some 40 players out. I know there are several new faces in our stable, so let's make sure you are registered and come out to play. READ MORE
