XL UPDATE FROM CRAIG                        15th August 2009

Good Day Rugby enthusiasts.  Although it is August there is still plenty going on. This Sunday there is an all comers game in Markham.  Kickoff is 1:-- pm. Unfortunately,

next weekend's game in Brampton is cancelled.

Saturday August 29th the NOBS are traveling to take on the Senators in Ottawa and "all are welcome!"   They are making hotel and travel plans, but you are more than welcome to make your own arrangements.  If you are interested; and it is a ton of laughs, contact me a ctmorley@cogeco.ca MORE

IMPORTANT XL UPDATE FOR AUGUST 2009       7th August 2009

It appears that vacations and conflicting commitments are going to put a serious dent in the numbers of players whom we will have available for the August 23rd game, scheduled for Brampton Rugby Club.

Rather than have a pathetic, paltry few scuffle around in the dust and the dirt, we have decided to cancel the event. Sorry. Please pass the word along.

If you are in need of a Rugby fix, there are plenty of women's Rugby games scheduled for August 23rd at Fletcher's Fields. There are, in fact, many games all this month, so please check the RO website for details ( www.rugbyontario.com  ). I am sure the ladies would appreciate the support. Look forward to seeing everyone soon.

XL UPDATE      8th July 2009

This past Sunday 5th July, the XL's hosted our match in Brampton and we had a very competitive game against a mixed Peterborough and Saracens side. It is great to see more Saracens players out recently. Special thanks to our many friends who turned out to support an injury depleted XL squad ( and in Tim's case somewhat the worse for wear from the night before) . There was some excellent refereeing which highlighted the game. While your beloved captain may have been heard to grumble about the referee being a bit too excellent when unjustly flagged me on a couple of occasions. As always I fell I must maintain a dignified silence about it all now...   MORE

XL UPDATE FOR JULY 2009(     2nd July 2009

The venue for this weekend's fixture (Sunday July 5th) has been changed to Brampton at 1:00 p.m. The Vintage couldn't secure a field. I hope everyone will be out, as the summer break is fast approaching and it's one of the last chances to have a runaround before the Fall. As always, everyone is welcome, and there will be food (free) and beer (less free) afterwards in the clubhouse. MORE

XLS TO MARKHAM             25th July 2009

This past Sunday, 20th June 2009,  saw the XL's in Burlington to give the NOBs another lesson in champagne Rugby. As always, they hosted us well and it was a good game highlighted by "lightning" Ted's several counterattacking  tries. When our strategy of wearing him out in the heat by letting him run long distances, multiple times, finally paid off, we were able to run in several unanswered tries of our own at the finish.   SOME UPDATES IN THE WORLD OF XL RUGBY      18th July 2009

Alistair Fraser, king of the Lions, sums up the situation best about what transpired at Sunnybrook Park last Sunday (See  below). He has also provided an update on what is going to happen on the Lions next home date, 26th July 2009.  Let's  turn out once again in great numbers to wish Dave a happy birthday  MORE
